Gadar 2 is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language period action drama film directed and produced by Anil Sharma, and written by Shaktimaan Talwar. A sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles from the first film. In the film, Tara Singh returns to Pakistan in order to rescue his imprisoned son Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
The movie was theatrically released on 11 August 2023, where it grossed over ₹470 crores (US$59 million) worldwide in its first six days, emerging as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023 and third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2023.

The movie is set against the backdrop of the “Crush India” campaign in 1971. Tara Singh goes missing during a skirmish on the border and is believed to be imprisoned in Pakistan. Learning this, Tara’s son, Charanjeet “Jeete” Singh, goes to save him but gets imprisoned and tortured by Pakistani soldiers under the orders of Major General Hamid Iqbal.
Several subordinates of Iqbal were killed by Tara during his escape with his wife, Sakeena, and Jeete from Pakistan in 1954, as a result of which, Hamid wants to extract revenge on Tara 1. Having survived the skirmish on the border uncaptured, Tara resurfaces in Punjab and learns from Sakeena that Jeete is in Pakistan. The rest of the story follows whether or not Tara can rescue Jeete from Iqbal and return to Sakeena.
The movie has been praised for its action sequences and performances by Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. Hema Malini recently watched ‘Gadar 2’ and couldn’t stop praising it while talking to the paparazzi. The movie has been doing incredibly well at the box office, and it recently crossed the Rs 300 crore mark in India. After making Rs 20.5 crore on Friday, it jumped by 55 percent on its second Saturday, collecting Rs 32 crore. So far, the movie has collected a total of Rs 336.13 crore in India and Rs 395.1 crore worldwide.
